About Stefanos

Stefanos Oikonomou is the founder of Emergent Suns, a transformative space for individual donors and funding organizations committed to social change and impact.

Stefanos brings over ten years of experience in the social sector and the European philanthropy ecosystem. In his most recent role, he led a diverse portfolio of programs engaging over 150 funders. His expertise spans funding strategy and practices, program design, and community building, providing a deep and nuanced understanding of the European funding landscape. Stefanos has also worked in policy, stakeholder management, and strategic communications roles with international non-profit organizations and an EU agency.

With master's level studies in social sciences, Stefanos combines academic rigor with practical and lived experience.

Alongside his work, Stefanos is developing a visual arts practice using experimental photography. He holds Greek-Belgian citizenship, currently lives in Brussels, and has also lived, studied, and worked in Greece, the US, and Lithuania.
